Welcome to Long Point Rentals of Curtis, MI and our Things to Do & See here in the UP.  You will find so much to enjoy within an hour of our Curtis Lakeside Cottages.  We are located just minutes from the Seney National Wildlife Refuge - a place for birding, fishing, hunting, & exploring.

Seney National Wildlife Refuge
Located within 7 minutes from our cottages, you will find the Seney National Wildlife Refuge.  The Marshland Wildlife Drive, Fishing Loop and Visitor Center offer hours - if not a full day of family fun.  Guests can expect a variety of wildlife that resides within the refuge, including:  trumpeter swans, osprey, loons, bald eagles, fox, deer, porcupine, bear, along with many other woodland creatures. The refuge encompasses over 95,000 acres and is located between Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. 


Upper Tahquamenon Falls

The Upper Tahquamenon Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfall is located in the mid-west.  The Tahquamenon Falls State Park encompasses over 50,000 acres of pure virgin forests, waterfalls and famous river.  This UP Attraction is the second largest waterfall east of the Mississippi.  

The Upper Tahquamenon Falls is over 200 feet wide and 48 feet tall.  Over 50,000 gallons of water per second descend over the fall.  Guests to the park can visit year round and enjoy hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing!  Visitors will need a park pass to visit Michigan's State Parks.  There is also the Tahquamenon Falls Brewery and Pub to grab a bite to eat, have a brew & shop!

Lower Tahquamenon Falls
The Lower Tahquamenon Falls is located just 4 miles north of the Upper.  It is really a complete surprise to many visitors - gorgeous cascading falls are found throughout.  People can hike, rent a boat to fish, park there boat and enjoy Nature's waterpark. 

Many small waterfalls cascade around an island for people to enjoy and cool off in the summer heat.  Accessibility to the island now features a footbridge allowing everyone the opportunity to enjoy this one of a kind attraction. There is also a four mile hike to the Upper Falls and entails a winding path along the Tahquamenon River.  The trail is long, please be prepared and bring adequate supplies.


Erickson Center for the Arts

We are located just 3 minutes away from the Erickson Center for the Arts - right in the heart of Curtis, Michigan.  This great center features an art gallery, conference center, theatrical center, & music in the park.  They have artists, annual events, music, exhibitions, great  viewing area for the yearly fireworks, speakers, & performances.

"The mission of the Erickson Center for the Arts is to enrich the mind, body and spirit of the Eastern Upper Peninsula communities we serve through the presentation of artistic and cultural exhibitions and programs. We strive to facilitate experiences that will encourage personal growth beyond our walls and our community."  The Erickson Center for the Arts is located just west of downtown Curtis at Saw-Wa-Quato & Main Street and is a must see for Upper Peninsula Attractions.

The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore extends along Lake Superior's shoreline from Munising and to Grand Marais, MI.  The 42 miles of beautiful Lake Superior includes over 73,000 acres.  The Pictured Rocks derives its name from the fifteen miles of sandstone cliffs near Munising, Michigan. 

An array of colors occur when groundwater seeps through the cracks and trickles down the rock face. Iron (red and orange), copper (blue and  green), manganese (brown and black), limonite (white) are among the most common color-producing minerals. This specific region is extremely colorful and unique with sculpted cliffs made by nature's wind, rain and waves.  Shown in this photo is the Pictured Rocks Cruises with the Indian Head formation.

Kitch-iti-kipi - "Big Springs"
Kitch-iti-kipi, also known as "Big Springs" is Michigan's largest natural freshwater spring.  Kitchi-iti-kipi means "big cold water" and is comprised of fissures that feed spring water through limestone at the flow of 10,000 gallons per minute.  This water has a temperature of 45 degrees throughout the year.  Visitors can view fish and ancient tree trunks through its crystal clear water while riding on the self-operated raft.  This gives guests a great vantage point in this incredible experience. 

The name means big cold water and is sometimes referred to as The Big Spring. It is northwest of Manistique about six miles (9.7 km) west on US Highway 2 and 12 miles (19 km) north on M-149.

Oswald's Bear Ranch
Oswald's Bear Ranch is the largest bear only ranch in the entire U.S.  This great bear ranch features four large habitats that encourage UP vacationers to explore and view these live roaming bears.  The ranch also offers "photos with the cubs" and apples to feed the larger bears.  This is a family friendly Upper Peninsula attractions that is sure to be fun for all ages.  Rescued cubs are brought here every year and they are always a joy to see. Area youth enter contests yearly to name these newborn creatures. People love to see them grow, play and become adult bears.  

The ranch now has 40 bears, 2 huge habitats (1/2 and 1/3 mile perimeter) and 2 smaller habitats (1/4 mile perimeter each). The yearling bears have a wonderful waterfall within their habitat. Located just 20 minutes south of Tahquamenon Falls, or from Newberry go 4 miles north on M-123 towards Tahquamenon Falls. Lighthouse along Lake Superior

White Fish Point Lighthouse 
The Whitefish Point Lighthouse is the oldest working lighthouse along Lake Superior.  It is the most important light guiding boats on the lake.  It is located at the most dangerous shoreline of Lake Superior, known as "The Graveyard of the Great Lakes". 

This historic light was first lit in 1849 and it was one of the earliest lighthouses on the shores of this great lake.  Along with the lighthouse, the property features the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum which displays an incredible array of artifacts, including the bell from the Edmund Fitzgerald.  Also found at this location is the Museum Store and Whitefish Bird Observatory.

Curtis MI offers a multitude of adventures that starts right out your cottage door.  We have the South Manistique Lake that offers fishing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, sailing and more.  Long Point Rentals has a large dock for guest use during your stay. Please visit our South Manistique Lake page to learn more.  This lake is part of the Upper Peninsula's largest lake complex.  Guests can utilize over 20,000 acres of inland lakes right in our area.

Three Season Fun
Spring, summer & fall all offer boating, kayaking, swimming, hiking, biking, birding, hunting, fishing, rock hounding, mushrooming, & golfing.  Visitors can also kayak and canoe the beautiful Manistique River, which winds it's way along through the Seney Wildlife Refuge.

The Tahquamenon Falls State Park invites you to explore one of the most scenic hiking trails in the UP.  The 4-mile River Trail parallels the Tahquamenon River between the Upper and Lower Falls, traversing through old-growth forest, giant cedars and hemlocks, and beautiful wild flowers. Hikers can park their vehicle at the Lower Falls and take a shuttle to the trailhead at the Upper Falls.  Special note:  Make sure to have plenty of water, snacks and bug spray along for the hike. Bicycles are not allowed on this trail. The trail is not maintained during winter months.

The Erickson Center for the Arts has many great events each year to come and see throughout the warm months - an area favorite is our weekly "Music in the Park" - bring your lawn chairs and cooler and enjoy some fun.

The fastest growing area sport is UTVing - side by side fun!  We have plenty of parking available for all your toys, whether it is:  atvs, utvs, boats

Winter Recreation
Curtis, MI is well known for our huge snowmobiling season that offers family friendly fun.  We have nearby trails from our Long Point Rentals.  There is no better way to explore the UP than with a snowmobile.  Our area has numerous establishments that cater to the snowmobiling enthusiast:  restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, and taverns - just to name a few.

Long Point Rentals offers our guests large parking areas for your snowmobile trailers and vehicles.

The Erickson Center for the Arts offers cross county skiing, snowshoeing & ice skating. 

The Upper Tahquamenon Falls also offers cross country skiing and snowshoeing for all ages.  Visit during their annual "Lantern Lit Snowshoeing" through the woods extravaganza.
